Job Title: D365 Project Operations Functional Architect

Location: Munich, Germany / Rest of Europe (UK, Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, France)

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and manage the end-to-end functional architecture of D365 Project Operations , including project sales, estimation, pricing, costing, WBS planning, scheduling, resource management, budgeting, subcontracting, time & expense management, procurement, invoicing, and revenue recognition.
• Conduct fit-gap analysis across project lifecycle processes and drive process standardization and global templates.
• Ensure system alignment with Microsoft’s extension model and roadmap while maintaining upgrade readiness.
• Lead design governance and review functional and business requirement documents to ensure standardized configuration with minimal customization.
• Approve designs for integrations, reporting frameworks, and data migration strategies.
• Lead workshops with senior stakeholders to translate business objectives into project operations solutions.
• Collaborate with technical teams and architects to ensure seamless system integration and process alignment.
• Oversee testing phases including CRP, UAT, Go-Live, and Hypercare support.
• Ensure alignment between project accounting processes and financial systems including GL, revenue schedules, and reconciliation frameworks.
• Implement internal controls for budgeting, cost management, subcontracting, approvals, billing, and revenue recognition.
• Support compliance requirements, financial governance, and data security standards.
• Develop SOPs, process documentation, and training materials to improve adoption across project teams.
• Mentor functional consultants and support continuous improvement of project operations processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 10–12 years of experience in project operations, professional services, or project-based organizations.
• Experience in multiple end-to-end implementations of D365 Project Operations (minimum 2–3 full cycles preferred).
• Strong expertise in project lifecycle management from opportunity creation to project closure and financial reconciliation.
• Proven experience working as a Functional Architect, Process Consultant, or Lead Functional SME.
• Deep understanding of project accounting concepts such as cost accumulation, margin analysis, billing models, and revenue recognition.

Preferred Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience configuring D365 Project Operations modules including pricing, costing, WBS, scheduling, resource management, budgeting, procurement, time & expense, and invoicing.
• Experience designing integrations with enterprise systems and collaborating with technical teams.
• Familiarity with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) for extending D365 capabilities.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational and financial KPIs.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Certifications in Microsoft Dynamics 365 , PMP, Prince2, or Agile/Scrum methodologies are an added advantage.
