Locations include Ottobrunn, Oberkochen, Taufkirchen, Ulm, Inmestaad, Lampoldshausen, Bremen and other sites across the country.

What You Will Do
- Explore and develop inverse design methodologies based on data‑driven and machine learning approaches to accelerate advanced materials design.
- Derive optimal material configurations directly from performance requirements, reducing iterative material optimisation cycles.
- Define, develop and propose research projects in the field of composite materials and coating technologies, aligned with the Central Research & Technology strategic roadmap.
- Execute scientific‑driven R&D activities autonomously within an international and transnational organisation.
- Collaborate closely with a broad ecosystem of academic partners, universities, research institutes, industrial partners and start‑ups.
- Exchange with the wider materials and surface technology community to maintain and lead the state‑of‑the‑art in inverse design approaches.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Data Science or a related field.
- Experience or strong interest in data‑driven modelling, machine learning or inverse design methods.
- Knowledge of composite materials and/or coating technologies will be highly valued.
- Experience with Python, data analysis and scientific computing.
- C1 English level – mandatory.
- German skills will be a strong plus.
- Applicants must hold citizenship of a European country.
