AI Futures has been exclusively retained by a rapidly scaling, digitally native consumer brand to hire a Senior Data Engineer.

The company operates a multi-channel direct-to-consumer business with a strong e-commerce presence and a growing international footprint. With significant investment into digital infrastructure, marketing technology, and analytics, data plays a central role in commercial decision-making, customer lifecycle management, logistics, and operational performance.

The business is now strengthening its modern GCP-based data platform to support the next stage of growth and is looking for a senior, hands-on data engineer to take ownership of core infrastructure and data workflows.

This is a high-impact engineering role with real architectural influence. You will help design, build, and optimize a scalable cloud-native data platform that supports analytics, marketing, operations, and AI initiatives across the organization.

Hybrid setup in Berlin.

The Role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design and operate a modern GCP-based data platform end-to-end, from ingestion and transformation to modeling and enablement for analytics teams.

You will:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines on Google Cloud Platform
• Develop and optimize data models (fact/dimension tables, partitioning strategies, schema design) in BigQuery
• Orchestrate workflows using modern tooling (e.g., dbt and Prefect or similar)
• Manage batch and streaming data pipelines, including API integrations and real-time data processing
• Ensure performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency of the data platform
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve data quality and pipeline stabilitySupport integrations across e-commerce, CRM, marketing automation, and operational systems
• Contribute to cloud infrastructure improvements, CI/CD processes, and containerized workloads
• Collaborate closely with analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into scalable technical solutions
• Document architecture, models, and pipelines to maintain high technical standards

The Candidate

You are a hands-on data engineer with strong cloud data platform experience, ideally within a digital, e-commerce, or consumer-focused business.

You bring:

• 4+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, or similar roles
• Strong hands-on experience with GCP, particularly BigQuery and Cloud Storage
• Experience with dbt (including testing and documentation) and workflow orchestration tools
• Strong SQL and Python skills
• Solid understanding of data warehouse architectures and dimensional modeling best practices
• Experience integrating APIs and third-party platforms (e-commerce, martech, CRM systems)
• Familiarity with CI/CD, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code principles
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently
• Excellent communication skills in an English-speaking environment
