Responsibilities

Provide services to the Data Processing Systems and Applications Competence area supporting the Data Processing and System Engineering activities of the EUMETSAT ground segments in development and/or under operations.
Data processing system engineering for supporting Integration, Verification & Validation (IV&V) activities at the level of test plan definition, test specification and test coordination.

Candidate Profile

A university degree (or equivalent) in a discipline relevant to the job profile.
At least 3 years’ relevant experience in preparation of requirements, design, interfaces and testing documentation for data processing systems for Earth Observation missions (experience on data processing for high data rates missions will be considered an asset).
Experience with L1/L2 processing software for Earth Observation missions, either for operations/maintenance or specification and development.
Knowledge of the requirements engineering process, including relation between requirements, ICDs, design and testing documentation.
Ability to rapidly absorb and make use of information presented in written and oral communications in a dynamic context.
Experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems.
Willingness to work within a multidisciplinary context in cooperation with other teams; ability to maintain a system overview.
A systematic approach to work, planning work and coping with tight schedules and multiple tasks.
Capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation.
Software engineering skills in shell scripting and python.
Desirable: experience in integration and verification (I&V) of complex data processing systems; Knowledge of ECSS and CCSDS standards; Knowledge and/or experience of quality control, instrument calibration and IV&V.
Fluency in English is mandatory; this is the working language at EUMETSAT, and the Contractors must be able to work effectively in this language both in written and spoken form.
