Das Munich Data Science Institute (MDSI) and the TRR 338 LETSimmun consortium seek a Data Steward to support research data management across the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Ludwig‑Maximilians‑Universität München (LMU), and Julius‑Maximilians‑Universität Würzburg (JMU). The position is full‑time with the earliest possible start date.

Über TRR 338 LETSimmun

LETSimmun is a DFG‑funded trans‑regional consortium focused on lymphocyte engineering. It brings together internationally recognised researchers, clinicians, and interdisciplinary experts to advance translational immunology through coordinated experimental, technological, and clinical research.

Über das MDSI

Das Munich Data Science Institute is an interdisciplinary research institute at TUM with a faculty‑crossing focus on data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. It is actively involved in research data management (RDM), developing sustainable concepts for data storage, management, and analysis.

Über die Stelle

The Data Steward acts as the central liaison for research data management within LETSimmun, while also being part of the MDSI team. The role supports coherent RDM across projects, promotes interoperability of diverse datasets, and facilitates knowledge sharing across institutional and disciplinary boundaries.

Aufgaben

  • Design and implementation of harmonised data workflows to ensure quality, interoperability, and reusability.
  • Collection, curation, integration, and documentation of various datasets.
  • Development of shared guidelines and best practices for data integrity, versioning, and long‑term archival.
  • Coordinating RDM activities within the project and across partner universities.
  • Training researchers in best research data management practices.
  • Fostering knowledge exchange and contributing to a sustainable community of practice.

Anforderungen

  • Master’s degree or higher in immunology, biology, bioinformatics, data science, or a related field with strong data focus.
  • Experience handling life‑science or immunology research data.
  • Knowledge of data repositories, metadata standards, and relevant research‑IT infrastructures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to work across research, data science, and IT domains.
  • Very good English skills in reading and writing.
  • Experience in collaborative research environments is desirable.
