Deputy General Counsel/ Senior Legal Counsel

Our solutions range from billing systems to data‑driven and catalog‑based offer and sales processes – essential components of our customers’ commercial value creation.

We are partnering with our client to appoint an experienced leader as Deputy General Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel, a pivotal role shaping the legal stability, commercial clarity, and long‑term business resilience of the organisation’s DACH operations.

You will hold overall responsibility for all legal matters in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Acting as a strategic sparring partner to the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead complex contract negotiations, ensure regulatory compliance, and support strategic business initiatives with clear, reliable recommendations.

Your work will directly influence the company’s risk posture, growth opportunities, and operational agility. With your legal acumen, commercial mindset, and ability to translate complexity into clarity, you will ensure the organisation operates safely and sustainably in a demanding regulatory environment.

In this role, you will advise on key legal and commercial matters, provide clarity and security, and create real strategic options. You ensure that operations are legally sound, risk‑aware, and compliant, laying the foundation for sustainable growth. At the same time, you strengthen the commercial fundamentals of deals, partnerships, and business models, ensuring decisions are transparent, economically sound, and built for long‑term success.

Through your expertise, you will influence strategic decisions at leadership level and actively contribute to shaping and accelerating the future of the DACH organisation.

Your Areas of Responsibility

Legal Ownership (DACH)

  • Serve as the primary legal contact for all matters in the region – from contract and employment law to software‑and IT‑specific topics.
  • Ensure compliance with local, regional, and EU‑wide regulations and advise the leadership team with clear, strategic recommendations.

Contract Negotiations

  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements (SaaS, licensing, partnerships, resellers, projects).
  • Develop standards that make the business scalable, secure, and efficient.

Litigation & Dispute Resolution

  • Manage legal disputes, coordinate external law firms, and define strategies for effective conflict resolution – from negotiations to arbitration.

Employment Law Advisory

  • Support HR and leaders across the DACH region on hiring, termination, employee relations, and employment law compliance.

Regulatory, Data Protection & Compliance

  • Oversee GDPR compliance, competition law, and industry‑specific regulatory requirements.
  • Establish processes, policies, and training that ensure transparency, security, and sustainable compliance.

Strategic Business Partnering

  • Advise the Senior Leadership Team on risks, growth opportunities, and new business models.
  • Support international initiatives, cross‑border matters, and the evolution of commercial frameworks.

Risk Management & Governance

  • Identify risks, develop governance structures, and ensure the organisation is resilient, efficient, and legally well‑positioned.

External Law Firm Management

  • Select and manage external law firms, oversee budgets, and ensure high‑quality, efficient, business‑oriented external support.

Global Collaboration

  • Work closely with international Legal, Commercial, and Compliance teams to ensure consistency and alignment across the global organisation.

Your Profile

  • Fully qualified lawyer with a completed Second State Examination or an equivalent international qualification
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in an international company or leading law firm
  • Strong knowledge of German commercial, contract, and employment law, plus experience advising global organisations
  • Skilled in negotiating complex contract structures and balancing legal certainty with commercial pragmatism
  • Entrepreneurial, strategic, and solution‑oriented mindset
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English
  • Proven ability to lead people and topics, manage external law firms, and act as a trusted partner at senior level
  • Structured, proactive, and resilient working style
  • Pragmatic, decisive, and execution‑focused
