As part of this strategic direction, we are seeking an exceptional Development Manager – Optimization & Quantum Algorithms to join our SCM Quantum, Optimization and AI organization.

In this pivotal leadership role, you will directly shape the next generation of supply chain optimization technology and help pave the way toward autonomous, future‑ready supply chains that address technical, economic, and societal challenges. You will lead a high‑performing team of developers and architects as we evolve our Optimization & AI technologies to become truly quantum‑native.

The Role

Lead, inspire, and develop a team of experts, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, professionalism, and excellence.
Serve as a functional leader for one or more technical components of SAP SCM Optimization, such as Logistics, Supply Heuristic and Supply Optimizer, and contribute to the development of long‑lasting, maintainable, and high‑quality Optimization Engines that can be easily integrated into products. Engage with customers and manage escalations.
In collaboration with the Architects and Product Managers for the Optimization Engines, develop and execute the evolution of the SAP SCM Quantum, Optimization and AI solutions, integrating Quantum Technologies to deliver business value into SAP’s installed base.

What You Bring

10+ years relevant software development experience with a least 3‑5 years of experience in managing cross‑functional teams.
Proven experience in development and delivery of software as a service using techniques such as microservice architectures, cloud‑native implementations, test‑driven development and continuous delivery.
Prior experience in the role of development manager or functional leadership, including a track record in strong people leadership, empowering teams, fostering growth, and creating an environment where experts can do their best work.
Productive and result‑driven attitude and excellent decision‑making skills.
Proven ability to manage customer expectations and escalations with a strong quality mindset.
Excellent German and English communication skills.
Background in Quantum Computing, Optimization and Operations Research is a plus.
