About the Role

Our client is a leading international technology company operating in high-performance electronics, communication systems, and secure mission-critical environments. They are looking for a Device Integration & Hardware Configuration Management Engineer to support complex system integration projects and ensure robust hardware lifecycle and configuration control processes.

This role sits at the intersection of system engineering, hardware development, and product lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities

Device & System Integration

• Integrate complex hardware subsystems into complete device platforms
• Support system bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting at device and board level
• Work closely with HW, FW, SW and system engineering teams to ensure seamless integration
• Support root cause analysis of integration issues across electrical, mechanical and firmware layers

Hardware Configuration Management

• Maintain and control hardware baselines, revisions, and BOM structures
• Manage engineering change requests (ECR) and engineering change orders (ECO)
• Ensure traceability of hardware components, revisions, and documentation
• Coordinate configuration audits and ensure compliance with internal and customer requirements
• Support lifecycle management from prototype to series production

Documentation & Tools

• Maintain technical documentation in PLM systems
• Ensure correct versioning and release of hardware documentation
• Support release processes and production handover
• Contribute to process improvement in configuration management workflows

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Act as interface between R&D, production, quality and supply chain
• Support risk assessment and impact analysis of hardware changes
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal quality processes

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field
• Strong experience in hardware integration or device/system integration
• Solid understanding of PCB assemblies, embedded systems, and electronic subsystems
• Experience with hardware configuration management and change control processes
• Familiarity with PLM tools (e.g., SAP, Windchill, Teamcenter or similar)
• Experience working in regulated or high-reliability environments is a plus
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Fluent in English, German is an advantage

Nice to Have

• Experience in RF, communication systems, test & measurement or defense-related hardware
• Experience with structured configuration standards (e.g., ISO, MIL or similar frameworks)
• Experience in multi-site international R&D environments
