Job Title: Director Portfolio & Investment Management (m/f/d)

The Opportunity

A fast scaling international solar platform is pivoting from a pure project sale model toward becoming a true IPP. Revenues are already around €400m, the portfolio is expanding across Europe and beyond, and the organisation is being rebuilt to match this ambition. This role is being created now to bring discipline, structure and sharp investment judgement into a business operating dozens of concurrent projects, with Europe as its most challenging and value critical region. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is the person who will turn a capable but fragmented investment, project finance and controlling set up into a single, high impact portfolio engine.

The Impact You Will Have

• Shape and execute the portfolio and investment strategy that drives risk adjusted returns across a multi country asset base.
• Build and lead a combined function of c.15–17 specialists, setting mandates, standards and decision frameworks that the rest of the business depends on.
• Impose robust project finance and project control discipline on development and construction spend, directly influencing profitability and capital efficiency.
• Deliver clear, data driven insight to CFO, CEO, COO and country heads so capital allocation and timing decisions are made on facts, not instinct.
• Set the benchmarks, tools and reporting that align regions to a consistent way of valuing, funding and steering projects.

What Success Looks Like

• You are an analytically sharp portfolio and investment leader from an asset heavy, project-based environment, handling dozens of parallel assets rather than single mega projects.
• You have already led teams of similar size, bringing peace, clarity and performance into functions that were previously in flux.
• You are a genuine business partner: able to challenge senior stakeholders on numbers and risk while remaining solution oriented and commercially minded.
• You thrive in scale up or reinvention settings, comfortable building frameworks where handbooks and perfect processes do not yet exist.
• You communicate with authority at C level, and your judgement is trusted in high value investment decisions.

You will own a critical lever in the company’s shift to IPP, with direct exposure to the CFO and top leadership and the autonomy to design and refine the portfolio and investment platform. The remit is global with a European centre of gravity, the agenda is growth and professionalisation, and the upside includes competitive base, STI and LTIP for those who demonstrably move the needle. This will suit a high performer who wants a defining role rather than incremental progression.
