Position Overview
Our client is a German industrial holding group that acquires, develops, and scales high-performing small and medium-sized companies across industrial and technology-driven sectors. The group focuses on long term value creation through disciplined capital allocation, strategic investments, and close collaboration with entrepreneurial managing directors across its portfolio companies.
We are seeking a Director Strategic Finance & Communications to report directly to the CFO and act as a trusted sparring partner within the Senior Leadership Team. The role combines strategic financial steering with investor relations and corporate communications responsibilities.
This is a highly visible position within a lean holding structure, offering direct exposure to the Executive and Supervisory Board. It is ideally suited to someone who enjoys working at the intersection of strategic finance, investment decision-making, and capital market communication , while playing an active role in shaping the financial strategy of a publicly listed group.
Key Responsibilities
Support the CFO on strategic, financial, and operational topics across the group
- Prepare analyses, presentations, and decision papers for the Executive and Supervisory Boards
- Conduct financial modelling, ROI analysis, and investment simulations to support capital allocation decisions
- Support group-wide liquidity and cash management initiatives and promote strong cash discipline across portfolio companies
- Contribute to CAPEX planning, investment strategy, and financial governance across the group
- Perform benchmarking, competitive analysis, and market research to support strategic decision-making
- Support M&A activities including target evaluation and coordination with external technical and financial due diligence partners
- Follow up on strategic decisions and monitor financial performance against investment assumptions
- Contribute to group-wide initiatives such as CSRD and compliance topics
- Lead and support investor relations activities and capital market communication
- Maintain relationships with institutional investors and analysts
- Coordinate and prepare Annual General Meetings, press conferences, and quarterly reporting events
- Support the preparation of annual and quarterly reports in collaboration with the finance team
- Prepare executive presentations and press releases and support external communications
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong experience in corporate finance, M&A, FP&A, strategy consulting, or a comparable strategic finance role
- Experience working in a listed or private equity-backed environment is highly advantageous
- Previous exposure to board-level communication, decision papers, and executive presentations
- Solid understanding of investment analysis, capital allocation, and financial strategy
- Experience supporting M&A processes or investment evaluations
- Background in industrial, manufacturing, capital goods, or distribution sectors is preferred
- Strong analytical mindset combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to translate complex financial analysis into clear recommendations for senior leadership
- Highly proactive, structured, and comfortable working in a lean, high-impact environment
- Fluent German and English language skills
