The Institute of Molecular Virology and Cell Biology, located at the headquarters in Greifswald – Isle of Riems invites applications for a doctoral position (m/f/d) for the EU-project “Quantitative diagnostics by mass spectrometry” with a fixed-term employment till . Start of the position is envisioned at and latest .
The „Proteomics and Systems Biology“ research group primarily uses mass spectrometry, but also other omics techniques, to answer virological and cell biological questions. In addition to identifying proteins from various pathogens, the group also investigates the host response during infection and the discovery of new interaction partners of viral proteins. For this purpose, mass spectrometric techniques are combined with biochemical, molecular biological, and cell biological approaches. A current focus is the investigation of the African swine fever virus (group Asfarvirus) to better characterize it at the molecular level and its infection biology.
Training in laboratory methods, instruction on the operation of the mass spectrometer and support for high-throughput analyses is offered. An independent and reliable personality towards work, good organizational skills, motivation, the ability to work in a team, and resilience are expected.
The job involves working in a biosecurity environment, which requires a security clearance according to the Security Clearance Act (Sicherheitsüberprüfungsgesetz, SÜG). Personal and physical suitability is therefore a prerequisite for filling the position.
