The Chair of Strategic and International Management, headed by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Thomas Hutzschenreuter invites applications as Doctoral Research Associate (m/f/d) in the area of strategy & global contexts.
The Chair’s research focuses on strategies, transformations, and firm success. We provide insights critical to business practice and develop strategic concepts and theories. Our research is divided into three areas: strategy and technology (deep tech such as AI, robotics, biotech), strategy and global contexts, and the theory of the firm (see We collaborate with renowned scholars and corporate partners. Our research is presented at international conferences and applied to business practice. A number of current and former doctoral students have won competitive funding. Previous doctoral candidates are now executives, consultants, and academics.
Your research project is an integral part of the Chair’s research and leads to co-authored publications. You will work on a structured project plan with clear milestones each semester. As part of the doctoral studies at TUM Graduate Center, you will learn the methods of academic research and have access to postgraduate courses.
The doctoral study process (see is structured to allow graduation within three years. Candidates may pursue an internal doctorate (employed by TUM, salary at TV-L E13) or an external doctorate, provided they meet TUM guidelines.
