EIB Trainee – EIB Global Directorate – Strategy and Business Development Division (Based in Luxembourg)

This position is based at our Luxembourg headquarters and requires regular office presence. The EIB offers you the opportunity to live and work in a truly international and multi‑cultural environment.

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1 March/April 2026). With a possible extension up to 6 months if required by University.

Eligibility

Applicants must be nationals of the Member States of the European Union, or citizens from countries officially granted candidate status to join the EU: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine.

Candidates whose Erasmus+ programme overlaps with the duration of the traineeship will not be considered.

Please limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications – only the first three applications submitted will be considered.

Objectives

You will contribute to activities related to regular monitoring and implementation of EIB Global's mandate delivery, to reporting, and to coordination with internal and external stakeholders during the development and implementation cycle of the EIB Global operations – including operations under mandate.

Responsibilities

Produce timely, professional reporting to be shared with external stakeholders.
Keep the monitoring status of the mandates up to date.
Preparation of briefings, presentations with graphs and charts, and other ad‑hoc tasks and requests by Management.
Support the monitoring of the business plan in terms of signatures and disbursements across EIB Global geographies, namely Enlargement and Neighbourhood Countries, Sub‑Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Asia and Pacific.

Academic Qualifications and Professional Skills

Final year of studies or university degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Administration or equivalent.
First experience and/or understanding or interest in development and climate finance is an advantage.
Good to advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Good knowledge of French is an advantage.
