Electrical Engineer - BESS & Grid

What you’ll be working on

In this role, you’ll contribute to the design, implementation, and commissioning of advanced battery energy storage systems and associated grid infrastructure. Your work will directly support the transition to a more reliable and sustainable energy network.

Key responsibilities include:

Protection & System Planning

• Develop protection concepts for battery storage systems in medium‑ and high‑voltage environments
• Plan and specify medium‑voltage switchgear to ensure safe and efficient project delivery
• Support the construction and commissioning of substations

Measurement & Troubleshooting

• Perform measurements and fault diagnostics in low‑voltage and control voltage systems
• Provide technical support during grid connection discussions with network operators
• Collaborate closely with project managers to coordinate construction schedules
• Create control cabinet designs and documentation using AutoCAD and EPLAN
• Plan grounding systems, cable routes, and empty conduit infrastructure
• Design low‑ and medium‑voltage cable systems
• Lead commissioning activities for battery storage systems
• Oversee cabling, troubleshooting, and contractor work on site
• Ensure successful acceptance and handover of installations

What we’re looking for

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng, MEng or equivalent)
• Experience in energy systems, grid infrastructure, or battery storage is advantageous
• Practical experience with low‑voltage measurement and troubleshooting
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and EPLAN
• Strong communication skills in German
• Willingness to travel (~20%) within Germany and internationally
• A collaborative mindset, strong ownership, and the ability to work independently
