Über unsAbout usWe are working with a leading engineering organisation seeking a skilled Electrical Technician with strong experience in Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear systems.In this role, you will be responsible for testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of MV equipment both in a workshop environment and on-site.This position is ideal for someone who is hands-on, detail-oriented, and safety-focused, with flexibility to travel when required.TasksKey Responsibilities -
Carry out electrical testing of MV switchgear, including:Dielectric testingMechanical testingLeak testingContact resistance measurementsPrimary & secondary injectionRelay testingPartial discharge diagnostics -
Perform commissioning, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on MV switchgear and protection systems -
Diagnose and resolve faults within MV electrical systems -
Ensure full compliance with safety standards and industry regulations -
Prepare detailed test and service reports -
Provide on-site technical support during installation and system integration -
Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system performance and reliabilityProfile -
Completed technical training or degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or similar -
Proven experience working with MV or HV systems (10kV+) – ideally switchgear, but also open to transformers, motors, or coils -
Hands-on experience with testing and commissioning of MV switchgear is highly desirable -
Familiarity with testing equipment such as OMICRON, Megger, or similar -
Knowledge of protection systems (relays, CTs, PTs, circuit breakers, interlocks) is beneficial -
Good English skills (German is a plus, not essential) -
Strong problem-solving and fault-finding ability -
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics -
Valid EU work authorisation -
Willingness to travel (approx. up to 15%, domestic & international)We offer -
