Job Description
The PCI ISO Squad handles all ISO 8583 message processing for Visa, Mastercard, and RuPay. It validates message fields, enforces network rules, and routes essential data to internal systems like the HSM and the authorizer. The squad also builds and validates Pismo’s ISO response messages based on information from other platform components. As the entry point for all card transactions, this service is performance‑critical. In addition, the squad maintains network connections, manages client sign‑on and certification processes, and ensures ongoing PCI compliance.
What You Will Do
- Hire and develop technical personnel by conducting periodic one on one sessions and providing regular feedback, always focused on high performance
- Ensure that the team is always engaged and challenged to go beyond what is expected
- Understand the team's products at a deep level, and support team members to also have a reasonable knowledge of the products the squad owns
- Delegate work and assignment to team members
- Collaborate with their team to identify and fix technical problems
- Analyze users’ needs and then find applications to serve them
- Foster a healthy culture within the team in line with the company culture
- Conduct risk analysis to identify areas of improvement
- Guide the team through technical issues and challenges
- Guarantee teamwork follows high standards development process, including PR reviews, code quality, test coverage, robustness, resilience, performance, security, and responsiveness
- Manage the teams on‑call, ensuring the quality of incident handling and offering a great experience for the client
- Have assertive decision making in adverse environments (short time, pressure from customers, various restrictions)
- Whenever necessary, direct contact with the international team and clients
- Monitor team services and new features on production environment, always seeking to achieve our SLOs and SLAs
This is a remote position. A remote position does not require job duties be performed within proximity of a Visa office location. Remote positions may be required to be present at a Visa office with scheduled notice.
Qualifications
Language Skills
- Proficiency in English at B2 level or above (Upper‑Intermediate)
Technical Skills
- Experience with Financial Industry or Payments, Authorization Systems
- At least 3 years acting in direct leadership, with responsibility for team development and career growth.
- 7+ years of experience in software development as a software engineer.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, multicultural team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven leadership experience in people and project management.
- Strong background in Agile methodologies and production support.
- Experience developing secure, scalable corporate web applications.
- Experience with development of corporate web applications
- Familiarity with cloud native infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), CI/CD, observability, and system architecture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ISO8583 messaging system
- Work with critical systems is a differential
- Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.
