Europe – PhD & Postdoc in Precision Prevention at Charité

Stellenbeschreibung:

Overview

University: Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin
Country: Germany

About the ImmunoPreCept Excellence Cluster

Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin is one of Europe’s most renowned medical universities and the largest university hospital in Germany. The newly established ImmunoPreCept Excellence Cluster unites leading researchers in immunology, medicine and computational science to advance precision prevention of immune‑mediated diseases.

Research Topic and Significance

The Cluster focuses on identifying, understanding and intervening in the earliest stages of disease development. By integrating medicine, experimental life sciences and computational analytics, we aim to tackle challenges in cancer development, autoimmune disorders and metabolic diseases.

Project Details

  • Transition from inflamed tissue to cancer: understanding and targeting metaplasia and signalling pathways leading to serrated colorectal cancer from inflammatory bowel disease.
  • Defining remission states in the bone marrow: a cross‑disease framework to predict and prevent relapse.
  • Unravelling resident and systemic innate immune reprogramming in the regression of metabolic dysfunction‑associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).
  • EBV and human immunity: from physiological integration to autoimmune dysregulation.
  • Decoding spatial and clonal evolution in human invasive lobular carcinoma through OpenST, strand‑seq and nanopore sequencing.
  • Therapy‑induced mutational remodelling of the intestinal epithelium: decoding genomic signatures of IBD interventions.
  • Embedding engaged research behaviour through practice‑based research interventions. (Postdoc)
  • Molecular profiling of high‑risk gastric mucosa. (Postdoc)
  • Defining homeostatic immune‑tissue networks preventing autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. (Postdoc) – 2 positions
  • Intra‑nuclear 3D localisation regulates allelic availability during inflammation. (Postdoc)

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in medicine, life sciences, biology, biochemistry, computational biology or related discipline (for PhD applicants).
  • Doctoral degree in immunology, molecular biology, bioinformatics or medicine (for Postdoc applicants).
  • Demonstrated interest in immune‑mediated diseases, precision medicine or disease prevention.
  • Experience in laboratory research, clinical research or computational analysis, depending on the project.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary and international teams.
  • Motivation to contribute to innovative, high‑impact research with real‑world applications.

Application Process

Applications for PhD and Postdoctoral positions should be submitted via the official Charité application portal. Detailed descriptions of each position, including project information and specific requirements, can be found on the ImmunoPreCept careers page: ImmunoPreCept Careers .
