Executive Director, European Land Transport

With a network spanning hundreds of terminals , a robust carrier ecosystem, and a long‑established reputation for operational excellence, the business is entering a new phase of strategic growth and transformation within its European Land Freight division .

The Opportunity

As Executive Director of European Land Transport , you will set the strategic direction and drive end‑to‑end operational, commercial and financial performance for all road‑based products across the region, including Groupage, FTL, LTL, cross‑border flows, domestic networks, terminals, linehaul, and last‑mile/cartage operations .

You will lead a multi‑country P&L, develop European network strategy, optimise the product portfolio, steer performance through regional directors, and shape the future of one of Europe’s most important freight networks.

This role sits at the heart of the European leadership team and plays a critical part in building a more integrated, efficient, profitable, and customer‑centric Land Freight business.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and lead the European Land Freight P&L , driving growth, margin improvement and transformation across all countries.
• Define and execute a European network strategy covering linehaul, terminals, cross‑dock design, operational standards and performance governance.
• Lead and develop a high‑performing team of directors across Groupage, FTL, LTL, network operations, procurement and product management .
• Drive commercial excellence through pricing, product development, strategic bids, and large account engagement.
• Strengthen operational performance through KPI governance, standardisation , and continuous improvement across hundreds of sites and partners.
• Lead transformation programmes in areas such as digitalisation, automation, sustainability, subcontractor strategy and network redesign .
• Build strong relationships with key customers, partners and carriers across Europe.
• Represent Land Freight at regional and global board level.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a proven senior leader who brings:

• Executive‑level experience in European road freight (Groupage, FTL, LTL, or parcel/pallet networks).
• Strong track record managing large multi‑country P&Ls and regional profit centres.
• Experience leading complex networks, terminals or linehaul operations at scale.
• Demonstrated success in transformations, turnarounds, integrations or network redesigns .
• A leadership style that combines strategic clarity with hands‑on operational credibility.
• Ability to lead multicultural teams and influence across a matrix organisation.
