The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within Huawei’s Ohms Research Center in Nuremberg is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Expert - Medium Voltage Power Conversion Systems (m/f/d) to contribute to the development of our Huawei Power Conversion Technology Laboratory , which plays an important role in designs and develops power converters and control systems for applications such as Photo Voltaic (PV), Data Center and Critical Power (DCCP), Electric Vehicle (EV), Board Mounted Power Supply (BMP) power ranges from several Watts to Mega Watts, and the most challenging things are high efficiency high density, cost effective and low static power consumption.

Your mission

• You will be the technical authority in formulating requirements for R&D activities for Medium Voltage Power Conversion Systems
• You will lead and execute the research and development of novel next generation MV architectures and converter structures for high power Solar PV, BESS, Data Center and EV charging applications
• You will take ownership of the design, subsequent verification and validation of MV converter concepts in the R&D laboratories
• You will closely collaborate with external R&D Institutes and Universities in developing novel converter and control algorithms for MV power electronic applications relevant to Huawei Digital Power
• You will generate novel ideas and protect them with IPR fillings
• You will lead and mentor cross discipline R&D Engineers

Your areas of expertise

• You hold a PhD or Master\'s degree in the field of power electronics, electrical and electronic engineering or in a similar engineering discipline
• You shall possess several years of proven experience in Medium Voltage, high power electronics and system experience in product design or prototype development in an industrial context
• You have a deep expertise in MV power electronic converter topologies, modulation, control and algorithm development, more focusing on system and Megawatt level power hardware design
• You have a good working knowledge of MV standards and practical insulation coordination experience is desirable
• You have a proven experience with new technology development initiatives, innovation and technical leadership
• High level of self-reliance and an autonomous target-oriented work style, “can do” attitude, eager to learn new things and ready to think outside the box
• You may have occasional travel related to ongoing projects, seminars, conferences etc.
• You are fluent in written and spoken English, willing to learn German or additional languages are a plus
