Full Professor (W2) in Audiology

Faculty of Medicine/Uniklinik RWTH Aachen

Responsibilities

  • Lead the teaching and research area of audiology in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Phoniatrics, and Pediatric Audiology.
  • Active participation in teaching at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Phoniatrics, and Pediatric Audiology, as well as in degree programmes for speech‑language pathology.
  • Opportunity for clinical work if clinically suited and interested.
  • Interdisciplinary scientific co‑operation with other departments and clinics of the Medical School and with research areas of the University (SFB TRR 219, SFB 1382, KFO 344, KFO 5011, GRK 2375, GRK 2415, GRK 2610, PAK 961, CIOABCD, JARA, IZKF AACHEN), with the Institute of Biomedical Technologies (IBMT) and with other technical disciplines such as the Institute for Hearing Technology and Acoustics.
  • Active commitment in the degree programmes of the Medical Faculty.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree and additional research experience, such as habilitation or equivalent achievements relevant to the field gained as a university researcher or professor or in a research position outside academia.
  • Internationally visible and recognised research profile in the field of audiology or paediatric audiology, evidenced by high‑ranking publications and successful acquisition of competitive third‑party funding.
  • Special expertise in hearing rehabilitation; hearing implants or machine learning in audiology desired, preferably complemented by clinical experience.
  • Profound teaching ability and dedication; proof required.
  • Fluency in German not required to start the position but the successful candidate will be expected to hold classes in German within the first 5 years.
  • Position available on a part‑time basis upon request.
