GenAI Business Development Manager-Europe Central Germany (Munich)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive the growth of our Model as a Service (MaaS) and AI solutions business in the DACH market. This role focuses on AI Native companies, including startups, scale-ups, and enterprises adopting generative AI technologies. You will be at the forefront of Alibaba Cloud's AI expansion in Europe, working with cutting‑edge large language models and machine learning platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, engage, and develop relationships with AI Native companies, AI startups, research institutions, and enterprises pursuing AI transformation in DACH and broader European markets
• Drive revenue growth for Alibaba Cloud's MaaS offerings, including Qwen (Tongyi) model family, PAI platform, and GPU computing services
• Develop and execute go‑to‑market strategies for AI/ML products tailored to the European market
• Build a robust sales pipeline through proactive prospecting, industry events, ecosystem partnerships, and referral networks
• Collaborate with solution architects and technical teams to deliver customized proposals and product demonstrations
• Negotiate and close deals, managing the full sales cycle from lead generation to contract signing
• Gather market intelligence and customer feedback to inform product roadmap and localization efforts
• Represent Alibaba Cloud at AI conferences, meetups, and industry forums across Europe

Qualifications

Required:

• 3+ years of experience in business development, sales, or partnerships within cloud computing, AI/ML, or enterprise software industries
• Demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets
• Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies, including large language models, generative AI, and model training/inference workflows
• Existing network within the AI startup ecosystem or enterprise AI community is highly preferred
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English; French fluency is essential
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment

Preferred:

• Experience selling to technical buyers (CTOs, ML engineers, data scientists)
• Familiarity with competitive cloud AI offerings (AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, GCP Vertex AI)
• Background in a hyper‑growth startup or major cloud provider
• Additional European languages (German, French, Dutch, Polish) are a plus

Job Requirements

• Bachelor/ Master preferred
• Very connected on AI/startup scene within key countries (Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Poland)
• 3 Tech savvy individual able to build solution scenarios based on customer requirements and technology services of AliCloud
• Sales driven - ability from identifying opportunities, qualifying and closing deals
