Graduate - Provisioning and Valuations - based in Luxembourg

The EIB, the European Union's bank, in the framework of its GRAD programme, is seeking to recruit for its Portfolio Management and Monitoring Directorate – Transaction Management Department – Provisioning and Valuations Unit – two Graduates in Provisioning and Valuations. These are full‑time temporary positions at grade GRAD. The term of the contracts will be until December 31, 2028. Panel interviews are anticipated for May/June 2026.

Purpose

As a Graduate in the PROVAL Unit, you will be mentored by seasoned valuation and provisioning professionals, gain exposure to a wide range of transactions spanning Corporate Finance, Venture Debt and Equity, and develop the technical skillset to grow into a confident finance professional, all while contributing to projects with real impact across Europe.

Under the supervision of the Head of Unit and experienced Valuation Officers, you will contribute to various tasks related to the preparation and timely delivery of adequate provisions in respect of the Bank’s loan‑graded portfolio and regular valuations of the Venture Debt investments portfolio.

You will also contribute to the management of data and the maintenance of its quality and support the Team in periodic performance reviews and performance reporting. You will assist colleagues in transaction lifecycle management on matters related to data valuations and provisions. You may also contribute to the regular valuations of Fund and Co‑Investments portfolio.

Accountabilities

• Assist more senior colleagues in ensuring consistency in impairment testing, and specific provisions and valuations prepared by the Bank, performing reviews of the underlying documentation, technically assisting, testing, inputting and challenging underlying model assumptions.
• Analyse financial statements and prospective financial information and develop and/or update financial models used by the Team for the purpose of provisioning or valuation exercises.
• Provide support to the PROVAL Team in managing (internal and external) audit process.
• Under the supervision of senior colleagues, interface with customers / intermediaries and other Services of the Bank in a timely and efficient manner to ensure receipt of information needed for the provisioning or valuation exercise.
• Support the PROVAL Team in the timely collection of information and data such as financial statements, market data, valuation research, earnings reports, contracts, operational reports and any other data or information required to prepare / update company or fund valuations and specific provisions.
• Support the PROVAL Team in executing data quality controls and ensuring a robust control environment is maintained and that all operational and compliance risks are actively managed and mitigated.
• Contribute to portfolio analysis, management information and approval of provisions and related performance and risk reporting.

Qualifications

• University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor), preferably in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, Management or related fields, supplemented by relevant post‑graduate studies and/or working towards a relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CFA or CAIA).
• A maximum 2 years of professional experience after your most recent graduation (excluding summer jobs and internships shorter than nine months).
• Practical experience in valuations, corporate finance, equity research, investment banking, restructuring or the financial audit of fair value or loan provision and impairment assessments would be a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of accounting and financial theory and understanding of basic debt and equity structures.
• Understanding of the EIB mission and activities as well as the operating and political framework in which the Bank operates.
• Knowledge of business intelligence solutions such as Capital IQ, Pitchbook and/or Bloomberg would be an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, basic financial modelling skills preferably in managing data sets and three‑statement financial models. Knowledge of Python would be an asset.
• Proficiency in other MS Office Tools (Word, Outlook, Powerpoint). Practical experience in using AI tools would be an asset.
• Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (*), with a good knowledge of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
