If you answer yes to these questions, we invite you to seize the opportunity to make a significant impact as Ground Segment System Engineer and support our services in Eumetsat Darmstadt. The role involves collaboration with international engineering teams and participation in several concurrent satellite programmes. Work is performed partly on-site at EUMETSAT headquarters in Darmstadt and partly remotely depending on project needs. In line with security requirements for the concerned missions of this position, the candidate has to hold a European citizenship. Evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates as part of the recruitment process. Furthermore, in view of the nature of the work the company is in, all potential employees will undergo stringent reference and identity checks.

Requirements

  • Degree in Aerospace, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
  • Experience with systems/project engineering for complex systems
  • Knowledge of the full system lifecycle and engineering documentation (including requirements, design, integration, validation, operations)
  • Familiarity with project management practices and tools
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving skills
  • Experience with satellite ground segment or data processing systems
  • Knowledge of ECSS, requirements management, or MBSE tools
  • Familiarity with verification campaigns or system integration activities

Responsibilities

  • Support system engineering activities for ground segment services and infrastructure.
  • Define and maintain system and service requirements, including traceability.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as design documents, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), verification plans, and test specifications.
  • Contribute to integration, verification, and validation activities for ground segment upgrades.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and risk management across multiple programmes.
  • Participate in technical reviews and coordination meetings.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Multi-Mission Element (MME) services.
  • Provide inputs to programme planning, reporting, and documentation activities.
  • Support internal proof-of-concept developments using AI/ML where relevant.
