Group Leader Applications (m/f/d)

Overview

In this key role, you will develop and implement application strategies that support the company’s long-term vision, oversee all operational and strategic aspects of application-related research projects, and guide a high-performing team. You will collaborate closely with internal departments and external partners to translate research findings into impactful applications and innovations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement application and research strategies, plans, and objectives aligned with the company’s long-term business goals.
• Lead, coordinate, and oversee all application-related research activities, including project structuring, resource planning, and timeline management.
• Identify relevant application topics, technological trends, and innovations across industries; evaluate their relevance and potential impact.
• Build and manage collaborations with external research institutions, universities, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
• Interpret, analyze, and evaluate results from application and research projects, ensuring actionable and high-quality outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with research and application standards, internal policies, and all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare research and application reports, technical documentation, presentations, and publications for internal and external audiences.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the application team while fostering a collaborative, supportive, and innovation-driven working environment.
• Manage and monitor budgets for application-related research projects, ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Evaluate and monitor performance, productivity, and quality within the application group; identify improvement opportunities and establish best practices.
  

Qualifications & Education

• Completed university degree (Master’s or PhD) in a relevant field, preferably within the natural sciences or a related discipline.
• Strong experience with research and application methods, techniques, and relevant tools or equipment.
• Proven ability to develop and execute application strategies that integrate business needs and technical requirements.

Work Experience

• Ideally, previous experience in application-focused research or applied sciences.
• Ideally, leadership or project management experience.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop team members.

Personal Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, paired with sound decision-making skills.
• High level of initiative, strong organizational capabilities, and resilience in a dynamic environment.
