Upway is a fast-growing startup building the largest marketplace for refurbished e-bikes and is now launching in Stuttgart. We are looking for a Head of Bike Mechanics / Workshop Manager (m/f/d) to manage the Upway workshop in Stuttgart. The team of mechanics (>50) repairs a large number of different used e-bikes and restores them to excellent condition, so that Upway customers have a huge and high-quality selection of e-bikes at their disposal.

Compensation: €45,000 - €58,000 / year

Your Responsibilities as a Head of Bike Mechanics

  • You build a successful team of mechanics
  • You take over the management of the team
  • You are responsible for the inspection, repair and quality control of a wide variety of e‑bike brands and models
  • You and your team will prepare e‑bikes for delivery to our customers and keep the existing fleet in good condition
  • You contribute your expertise in hardware and software and work to continuously improve our service and our e‑bikes
  • You are an essential part of our team and contribute your ideas for the optimization of the workshop and the operational business

The skills you bring

  • You have experience as a bicycle mechanic, two‑wheel mechanic, two‑wheel mechatronics engineer, car mechanic or have mechanical/craftsmanship experience in a similar field
  • Ideally, you have a relevant technical qualification, but we also welcome career changers with a strong understanding of (e‑)bike repairs.
  • Strong organizational skills and an enjoyment of precise working.
  • A passion for experimenting with new repair processes and continuously improving them.
  • Prior experience leading a team or taking on responsibility as a senior mechanic.
  • Good German and/or English language skills.
