About our client

An expanding services company in the engineering sector, backed by an entrepreneurial investor with a strong growth trajectory is currently looking for a Head of M&A to lead the origination and execution of M&A deals.

They are looking to acquire several companies per year to achieve their inorganic growth goals and act as a true company builder. We are looking for someone experienced in working with German founders and entrepreneurs and extensive deal experience in a private equity fund or the M&A team of a PE-backed portfolio company. A natural networker, who can source deals bilaterally and build a network in the industry, based on trust.

This position will report directly into the CEO, has significant investor exposure and will be essential for driving growth across the business.

What the job involves

• Building and developing a strong pipeline for further acquisitions
• Managing M&A transactions from start to finish
• Working with founders, guiding them through the process and building a strong network in the industry
• Ownership of M&A process with a very hands-on approach and building the broader M&A team
• Driving the growth and professionalization of the business

Who we are looking for

• Several years of professional experience in sourcing and executing deals in Germany in lower mid-market environments, either in a private equity fund or a PE-backed portfolio company
• Strong track record of building a pipeline and executing on M&A transactions
• Hands-on approach, with high interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, self-starting mentality and drive to take ownership
• We are looking for an outgoing natural networker with a results-driven and goal-oriented personality backed by an analytical thinking and data-driven approach
• Outstanding strategic and commercial skillset with great communication and presentation skills
• Fluency in German and English is essential
