Head of Manufacturing Support Metallurgical (f/m/d)

A Snapshot of Your Day In this exciting and challenging role, you will lead a global team of ~15 engineers in four locations in Germany and the US. You will be responsible for the “Turbine Manufacturing Support Metallurgical and Castings” group. This involves the management, setting of strategic direction/development and support of design & manufacturing of turbine blades, vanes, and ring segments for large gas turbines.

Key to the role is ensuring people development, quality, design for manufacturing, On Time Delivery, product costs, digital integration and volume flexibility requirements are achieved and further enhanced within the Turbine Modul and jointly across the manufacturing functions.

You will work closely with stakeholders, interface partners in engineering, manufacturing, service, procurement and program management on engine level to ensure that components will be delivered within design acceptance criteria.

Leadership and inspiration through the provision of disciplinary and professional guidance for a team of engineers and technical experts, fostering an environment characterized by drive, innovation, and high performance

Ensuring parts availability and supply chain resilience, including participation in part qualification activities in collaboration with the Blades & Vanes manufacturing organization

Support of the Blades & Vanes manufacturing organization in the qualification and serial production of internal and external suppliers for the casting of turbine blades, vanes, and ring segments, with consideration of budget, quality, and timeline requirements

Ensuring design for manufacturability by supporting product and technology roadmaps with a focus on manufacturing processes for hot‑gas‑path components, including the integration of manufacturing feedback into component design through the application of advanced casting simulation methods to improve manufacturing yields and costs

What You Bring

University degree or equivalent in an engineering or manufacturing field with 10+ years of professional experience

Management experience in complex engineering, product development, and/or R&D environments, combined with demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and empower global teams within an international matrix organization

Strong understanding of contemporary manufacturing technologies, preferably investment casting, along with knowledge of metallurgical processes, material properties, and quality assurance practices

Knowledge and experience with the Product Process and Qualification (PPQ) process for blades, vanes, and ring segments

Strategic and business‑oriented mindset with strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills, including proven ability to manage complex projects and work effectively within teams

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as well as fluency in both German and English (spoken and written)
