HSE Manager

Freelance: HSE Lead / HSE Manager (m/f/d) – Major Industrial New-Build Project Saarland Region, Germany Start: ASAP (ideally 01 April) ⏳

Duration: 12 months initial contract (strong extension option – total project duration 3–3.5 years)

For a major

industrial new-build project

in the Saarland region, we are currently seeking an experienced

HSE Lead / HSE Manager

to take ownership of the site-wide HSE strategy and elevate safety leadership within a large-scale construction environment.

An operational HSE structure is already established on site. However, the project requires a

strong strategic HSE leader

with authority, contractual awareness, and the ability to bring structure and long-term vision to the safety function.

This is not a follower role — we are looking for someone who leads from the front and drives standards proactively.

Key Responsibilities Lead and further develop the overall HSE strategy for a major industrial construction project Coordinate and oversee HSE activities across multiple contractors and subcontractors Act as key HSE interface to site management and project leadership Ensure contractor compliance and enforcement of site safety regulations Support contractual and claims-related discussions from an HSE perspective Foster a structured, calm, and solution-oriented safety culture Maintain a holistic overview of site risks and long-term project implications

Required Profile Minimum

10+ years of experience

in HSE roles on large construction sites Proven experience as

HSE Manager / HSE Lead

on major industrial projects Strong background in

large-scale construction environments (Grossbaustellen) Experience in

plant construction / industrial projects (Anlagenbau) Solid contractor management and compliance experience Strong understanding of contractual interfaces and claims handling HSE qualification including

SiGeKo background required Strong leadership personality with strategic mindset and structured approach

Industry Background (Advantageous) Experience in the following industries is beneficial but not mandatory: Chemical Steel Energy Heavy industrial construction
