Summary

MarketVector Indexes GmbH — the international index company of VanEck and a leading provider of equity, thematic, digital asset, and multi‑asset benchmarks — is seeking an Index Specialist with a focus on equity indexes to join our high‑performing Index Operations team in Frankfurt am Main. This role supports the full range of index maintenance and review activities, helping to ensure the accuracy and high quality of our global equity indexes. You will work with a multinational team across Frankfurt and New York and collaborate with colleagues in various other teams including the index research, IT, marketing and legal teams.

The position provides a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience across the full lifecycle of index administration—from data quality checks to index reviews, and process automation. You will play a key role in ensuring that our equity indexes meet the highest standards required by ETF issuers, asset managers, and institutional clients worldwide. This role is a great fit for candidates with experience or interest in indexing, market data, or the ETF ecosystem who want to grow within a multicultural team, learn all areas of index operations, and be involved in new index initiatives.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Prepare and validate data for calendar‑based and trigger‑based index rebalances, ensuring accuracy and compliance with methodology rules.
• Monitor market conditions, data feeds, and input sources to proactively identify and resolve issues impacting index maintenance.
• Support the creation and maintenance of operational dashboards, QA scripts, and process documentation.
• Prepare regular index data, reports and operational insights for internal teams.
• Respond to client inquiries on index composition, methodology, data or other related items.
• Assist in the development of new equity index concepts, including data collection, methodology testing, and drafting index descriptions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to design, implement, and enhance automation for review processes, monitoring tools, data delivery and seamless operational workflows.
• Contribute competitive intelligence on equity market structure, market trends, index industry developments and equity index peers.

Qualifications

• Excellent data skills.
• Familiarity with standard software (MS Office, especially Excel).
• Team player with good communication skills.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English; knowledge of German and other languages is a plus.
• Proficiency in programming languages (such as Python, R, SQL) with a focus on automation and data processing.
• Basic understanding of capital markets.

Education And/or Experience

• Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics or similar.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience.
