Intern in Lab Automation for R&D Processes (m/f/d) – with salary information

As part of an interdisciplinary team, you'll work on innovative lab automation projects, connecting IT and engineering with chemical research, thus contributing to sustainable material solutions.

Compensation: €2,270 gross per month for full-time employment.

What You'll Work On

• Develop and implement lab automation solutions for Covestro R&D.
• Create software for data interfaces, sensor integrations, and computer vision to expand automation capabilities.
• Design and produce functional prototypes using 3D printing and conventional manufacturing methods.
• Conduct feasibility studies for automation solutions in close coordination with stakeholders.
• Document results and ensure transparent communication within the project team.
• Engage in an interdisciplinary environment, connecting IT, engineering, and chemistry for practical innovations.

What Convinces Us About You

• Master's program enrolment, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, or comparable fields; chemistry background is a plus.
• Initial practical experience in data analysis, automation, or laboratory environments is desirable.
• Strong programming skills in Python or comparable languages; knowledge of robotics frameworks is an advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of automation technologies, sensors, and suitable interfaces.
• Analytical thinking and enthusiasm for solving complex technical challenges in a structured manner.
• Self‑motivated, communicative, and enjoys teamwork.
• Excellent German and English writing and speaking skills.

Contract Details

Position to be filled starting June 2026, full-time for a duration of 6 months. Flexible solutions can be discussed if this does not fit your circumstances.
