SGL as an employer

Working at SGL means playing in the Champions League. Our team thrives in an informal culture where collaboration, innovation, passion and personal development go hand in hand. We encourage learning, sharing ideas, and taking ownership of your work, so every team member can make an impact. Great work comes from great teams, we make sure there is plenty of fun and connection. At SGL, teams bond in ways that matter to them!

The position

Do you have attention to detail? Are you technically skilled, customer-focused, and determined to get the job done? Then we are looking for you.

As an International Field Service Engineer, you will travel independently around the world, stepping onto the fields of the largest and most prestigious sports stadiums worldwide. You deliver high-quality workmanship to keep our systems in top condition, resolve technical issues, and ensure complete customer satisfaction.

For example, you might fix a malfunction at a Premier League club on Monday and then spend the rest of the week carrying out annual maintenance at a top club in Germany. Through both the high technical standard of your work and the way you interact with customers, you shape the company’s reputation and serve as the face of SGL System.

Key responsibilities

  • Travel weekly to one or more customers to commission our products, perform preventive maintenance, and resolve technical malfunctions.
  • Regularly coordinate with colleagues on product improvements, your input as an engineer is highly valued.
  • Perform troubleshooting remotely when needed, enabling you to identify issues, guide customers in resolving problems themselves, or ensure the correct materials are dispatched.
  • Conduct inspections of products repurchased from customers and refurbish them so they are ready for resale.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date administration, including tracking expenses on your SGL credit card, logging hours on service tickets, and registering materials used from your service van or tool kit.

What does an average week look like?

The week kicks off with a commissioning project in Budapest. Your flights are arranged by headquarters, and as an engineer, you have the advantage of booking your own hotel using the SGL credit card for travel expenses and necessary local purchases. A nice extra: you benefit from hotel reward programs that you can use for personal trips.

Once on site, you first check the delivery to ensure everything has arrived correctly and completely. Then you start the commissioning process, making sure everything runs smoothly and is handed over to the customer in perfect condition.

If the project stays on schedule, you’ll have time in the evenings to explore the area. That’s how you combine the best job in the world with seeing the world.

The following week, a major maintenance job is scheduled in Germany. Since it’s relatively close, you take the company van arranged by SGL.

The advantage? All your tools and equipment are with you, allowing you to resolve even unexpected issues during the visit.

And you’re already looking ahead! An exciting assignment in the United States is on the horizon.

Unique opportunities, international experience, and new challenges every time.

As a Service Engineer at SGL, you combine international travel, technical responsibility, and direct customer interaction.

Your work ranges from commissioning and maintenance to troubleshooting, all around the world.

Ready for your next adventure?

  • You have a completed degree in Electrical Engineering (for example Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering).
  • You are fluent in German and English.
  • You are highly flexible and travel-oriented.
  • You can work independently and take responsibility for your work.
  • You are decisive, independent, confident, and take responsibility for your work.
  • You have strong communication skills and are customer-focused. Our clients play in the Champions League and they expect the same level of service from you.
  • You are driven to resolve technical issues and know how to apply the correct methodologies.
  • You thrive in an informal, open, and friendly work environment, even when facing tight deadlines or needing to act quickly.

If you match with more than 70% of the qualifications, we encourage you to apply.
