Investment Director – Software

DRAX Altus is delighted to be supporting a confidential search for a leading European private equity firm in the appointment of an Investment Director to lead investment activity in the software and digital technology space. The firm backs established, growth-oriented companies, working in close partnership with management to build scalable, resilient businesses over the long term. The successful candidate will lead the origination, execution, and oversight of multiple transactions, while also shaping the platform’s coverage of the software sector through network building, strategic engagement, and internal mentorship. THE ROLE:

The role includes but is not limited to: Deal Origination & Execution

Source, originate, and qualify investment opportunities in software and software-enabled businesses across the DACH region. Lead or co-lead transactions from origination through to execution, working closely with internal and external stakeholders. Ensure that deals meet the platform’s target return profile and demonstrate clear alignment with the firm’s responsible ownership model. Actively support portfolio companies through strategic planning, operational scaling, and performance monitoring. Track outcomes and value progression, with accountability towards Maintain board-level engagement with management teams. Develop deep coverage of the software investment landscape, including sub-sector mapping, event participation, and intermediary relationships. Build relationships with leading entrepreneurs and advisors, contributing to one domain‑specific entrepreneur event per year. Play a leading role in junior team development and mentoring, embedding a high‑performance culture and shared values. THE REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate will demonstrate: Experience: 8–12 years in private equity, growth investing, or technology-focused M&A, with strong exposure to the software ecosystem. Track Record: Proven ability to originate and lead deals, ideally with a personal track record of investments delivering strong IRR or MoC. Commercial Acumen: Strong judgement, analytical capabilities, and a structured approach to investment decision‑making. Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage internal and external relationships, develop junior talent, and contribute to firm culture. Language: Fluent in English; German fluency highly preferred.
