ISSB Technical Staff, IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 Implementation

Status : 18 months fixed term contract
End date : 30 June 2027
Based : Frankfurt or Montreal
Reports to : ISSB Technical Director

Job purpose : The IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 Implementation team is responsible for executing the strategy and activities to support the high quality implementation and consistent application of IFRS S1 and IFRS S2. This includes the development of educational materials and convening the Transition Implementation Group on IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 (TIG) that publicly discusses stakeholder questions relating to implementation. The role leads or contributes to technical research, analysis and engagement related to identifying technical application challenges, researching these challenges and developing solutions, such as educational materials or other resources, technical discussion papers presented to the TIG and/or facilitating the consideration of such issues by the ISSB. This role includes engagement with jurisdictional regulators, national standard‑setters and other key stakeholders on matters related to application of the ISSB Standards.

Principal accountabilities

  • Evidence-based research – Undertake research on business risks and opportunities associated with sustainability issues and metrics used to understand performance on such risks and opportunities.
  • Stakeholder consultation – Act as a credible and authoritative representative of the ISSB by engaging with a wide range of external stakeholders from industry and the investment, regulatory and standard‑setting communities, to ascertain their views and to share information.
  • Staff analysis and recommendations – Conduct analysis and develop technical proposals for consideration by the ISSB and its advisory committees, and facilitate their decision‑making.
  • Technical papers – Draft due process documents (research papers, discussion papers, requests for information, exposure drafts, ballot drafts and standards).
  • Initiate and lead discussions with ISSB members, advisory committees, and working groups.
  • Work with IASB Technical Staff when relevant to ensure connectivity and compatibility between the work of the IASB and the ISSB in developing IFRS Accounting and Sustainability Disclosure Standards.
  • Project management, including coordination of a range of activities to support delivery of technical projects and coordination with other projects on work plan.
  • Contribute to the development of other staff.

  • Extensive knowledge of the sustainability and financial reporting landscape, including relevant standards, frameworks and regulations.
  • Extensive and practical knowledge of capital markets and the links between sustainability-related risks, opportunities and value creation.
  • Excellent knowledge of how sustainability-related risks and opportunities manifest in specific industries and how companies in those industries manage those risks and opportunities.
