The Federal Chancellery is seeking to fill the following position at its Berlin office for Department 132, "Information and Communication Technology," as soon as possible on a permanent basis:

An IT specialist (m/f/d) for IT operations, with a focus on service management tools.

The Federal Chancellery provides comprehensive support to the Federal Chancellor in his duties. It informs the Federal Chancellor about current political affairs and the activities of the federal ministries. In addition, the Federal Chancellery coordinates the work within the federal government, prepares decisions by the Federal Chancellor, and oversees their implementation.

Division 132 is responsible for the secure operation and continuous development of information and communication technology in the Federal Chancellery. To this end, we operate our own systems and work closely with external service providers from the federal administration and the private sector. We rely on state-of-the-art technologies for the digitization and modernization of our IT.

Tasks / What you can expect from us:

  • Planning, further development, administration, and support of our services
  • Active design and implementation of (IT) service management tools
  • Optimization of the lifecycle for users and devices
  • Optimization of identity and access management in conjunction with central offerings from federal IT
  • Optimization of certificate management
  • Participation in digitization
  • Collaboration with internal and external partners

Requirements / What you bring to the table:

  • Successfully completed degree (bachelor's or equivalent) in (business) information technology, communications engineering, or another relevant field of study, or comparable experience and skills in the form of several years of proven relevant professional experience with relevant training certificates and comprehensive knowledge of the technologies used in the field of activity
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft or Linux environments
  • Practical experience with tools in IT operations and service management
  • Knowledge of directory services, e.g., MS Active Directory
  • Knowledge of processes and tools in certificate management
  • Knowledge of standard tools for the IT lifecycle
  • German language skills essential (business fluent – level C1) and good English language skills (level B1) – (competence level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • Good communication skills and strong service awareness
  • Strong team spirit, social skills, and sense of responsibility
  • Absolute discretion and willingness to participate in an extended security check with security investigations in accordance with § 10 of the Security Check Act

The duties to be performed allow for classification up to pay grade 12 TVöD, provided that the personal requirements are met. The level of remuneration will depend on your professional experience and your career to date.

We can offer you an annual salary of up to €90,100 (from May 2026 up to €92,500 including ministerial allowance). Depending on the applicant situation, an additional temporary skilled worker allowance of up to €1,500 per month may be paid to employees covered by collective agreements. In addition, employees covered by collective agreements receive a company pension through the Federal and State Pension Institution.

If the personal requirements are met, a subsequent appointment to civil service status may be possible.

If you are already employed in the public sector or are a civil servant (up to salary grade A 13 g, without official allowance), a secondment/assignment with the aim of transfer or permanent appointment will be sought.

We offer a good work-life balance with flexible working hours and the option of working from home within the scope of official duties, as well as 30 days of vacation per calendar year. In addition, we can grant you up to 18 days of time off in lieu within a year if you have the corresponding time credit.
