IT System Operations Engineer (m/f/d)

We are looking for an experienced and proactive IT System Operations Engineer (m/f/d) to join our IT Infrastructure team at home24. Our mission is to provide a stable, secure, and high‑performing technical foundation that enables all Homies to work efficiently. In this role, you act as a technical lighthouse, combining hands‑on system administration with the coordination and mentoring of our junior administrators to shape the future of our IT landscape.

Your Responsibilities

• You lead the technical direction and coordination of the IT infrastructure team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
• You guide, support, and coach junior administrators to help them reach their full potential and technical proficiency
• You facilitate knowledge transfer within the team and actively promote a culture of continuous professional development
• You plan, operate, and further develop our IT infrastructure to ensure it remains modern, scalable, and efficient
• You administer and optimize the network environment, including LAN, WAN, VPN, VLAN, and firewall configurations
• You manage and enhance the server landscape across both Windows and Linux environment
• You ensure a stable and secure IT operation by maintaining high uptime and system integrity
• You design and implement robust IT security measures to protect the organization from emerging threats
• You oversee monitoring, performance optimization, and incident management to minimize downtime
• You manage relationships with external service providers to ensure high‑quality delivery and cost‑effectiveness
• You contribute to IT projects and take on technical project leadership to drive innovation
• You document and continuously improve IT processes to streamline workflows and maintain high standards of operation

Your Profile

You are a solution‑oriented expert who thrives in a collaborative environment:

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field/equivalent professional training
• Several years of proven experience in IT system administration with a track record of handling complex environments
• Technical Core: Expertise in Networking (LAN, WAN, Routing)
• Deep understanding of IT Security (Network‑ & Endpoint Security, Monitoring & Incident Response)
• Proficiency in Virtualization (e.g., Azure Stack HCI or Hyper‑V)
• Strong expertise in cloud services, with a focus on AWS
• Experience in functional leadership, mentoring, and technical project management
• A structured, independent work style combined with strong communication skills and a team‑first mindset.

• Hybrid working model: you have the flexibility to work from home on Wednesdays and Fridays in our standard working mode. We are in the office together Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays
