The Faculty of Biology and Preclinical Medicine calls for applications for a Junior Group Leader position in the field of RNA biochemistry/ribonucleases/RNA stability.

The position is initially for up to 5 years. The candidate holds a Master, Diploma or similar degree and a PhD in molecular biology/biochemistry or related disciplines. The PhD degree should have been obtained no more than 4 years ago.

RNA biology is one of the strategic research directions of the Faculty of Biology and Preclinical Medicine. This position will be integrated into a vibrant RNA research community ( at the University of Regensburg with state-of-the-art infrastructure and many opportunities for scientific interaction. High-end technologies like mass spectrometry, cryoEM, NMR, analytical methods or confocal microscopy are readily available through the Regensburg Centre for Biochemistry (RCB) and the Regensburg Center for Ultrafast Nanoscopy (RUN). To complement our research portfolio and future research initiatives, we are seeking experts with projects with a scientific link to ribonucleases/RNA stability.

The position includes funding for staff, an attractive start-up package, consumables and the access to an excellent infrastructure. Grant applications and further co-funding from third parties‑are expected.

PhD students will be integrated into the Regensburg International Graduate School of Life Science (RIGeL). The group will be part of the Regensburg Centre for Biochemistry (RCB). In addition, the University campus hosts day care centres, an international kindergarten and a flexible family service. The University of Regensburg aims to increase the percentage of female scientists and explicitly encourages women to apply.
