Laboratory Engineer (d/f/m) - Hamburg

About This Position

What you'll do

• Create consumer centric styling concepts and solutions in collaboration with cross‑functional teams according to the strategic roadmap and based on deep understanding of the category and trends
• Implement through the independent development, testing, consumer validation of novel and complex hair styling products to grow the styling category with mid‑term market impact
• Co‑design, integrate, and evaluate new raw materials; develop a strong scientific understanding of raw materials characteristics, performance and interactions in the formula
• Demonstrate product performance through impactful demos, and propose innovative claims
• Ensure quality and business viability of the solution by conducting and coordinating all required tests (stability, safety, regulatory…) for market introduction
• Follow laboratory best practices in a team environment

What makes you a good fit

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a related field (e.g., food science, pharmaceutical sciences, cosmetology/hairdressing with strong scientific focus), with minimum 3 years of professional experience in cosmetic formulation development and/or relevant applied academic research
• Empathetic, consumer‑centric mindset with the ambition to deeply understand consumer needs, behaviors, and expectations
• Strong self‑motivation, curiosity, and problem‑solving skills; proactive in taking initiative and effective in cross‑functional and international collaboration; scientifically rigorous in characterizing systems
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint), Power BI, and curious about consumer‑facing digital and social media channels
• Fluent in German and English
