We’re looking for an experienced Lead Full-Stack Engineer to join our Product & Engineering Team in Berlin. This role is for someone who has spent years building and scaling production systems and is now focused on leading teams, setting technical direction, and making sound engineering decisions that support the business long term.
GO2 Markets builds platforms that enable the global trading of environmental products and supports organizations in developing sustainability strategies. Engineering is central to how the company operates, and this role owns both the quality of what we build and how we build it.
As the Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for the technical direction of our core products, the effectiveness of our engineering practices, and the growth of the team. You will remain close to the code where it matters, but your primary impact will come from architecture, standards, prioritization, and mentorship rather than individual output alone.
This is a full-time, Berlin-based role with an immediate start.
Own the technical direction and long-term architecture of GO2’s core platforms.
Lead the design and delivery of a new platform from concept through production, ensuring maintainability, security, and scalability.
Set clear engineering standards across code quality, testing, CI/CD, documentation, and operational readiness.
Internal and external dev team management, and performance leadership.
Guide architectural decisions, data models, and API design to support growth and multi-tenant use cases.
Ensure platform security, including authentication, authorization, data integrity, and auditability.
Balance delivery speed with technical quality and long-term sustainability.
Mentor and support engineers through regular code reviews, technical guidance, and career development.
Manage and provide technical leadership to our external agency–based engineering team, ensuring clear expectations, code quality, security standards, and smooth collaboration with internal engineers.
Coordinate internal engineers and external partners to ensure aligned execution and predictable delivery.
Work closely with Product and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
Own delivery of key roadmap milestones aligned with company commitments through 2026.
10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including responsibility for system design and technical decision-making.
Proven experience in a technical leadership role (Engineering Lead, Tech Lead, or similar).
Strong full-stack background with deep experience in modern frontend frameworks (React / Next.js, TypeScript).
Solid backend expertise in at least one production language such as Go, Node.js, Java, or Python.
Strong experience designing scalable architectures, APIs, and data models (including multi-tenant systems).
Practical knowledge of security best practices, including MFA, SSO/IdP, RBAC, and production-grade access control.
Experience with DevOps fundamentals: CI/CD pipelines, deployments, monitoring, and incident awareness.
Track record of building and operating complex B2B platforms, marketplaces, or workflow-based systems.
Ability to lead through influence, clear decision-making, and technical credibility.
Strong communication skills and comfort working across Product, Design, and non-technical stakeholders.
A pragmatic mindset, focused on delivering reliable software rather than over-engineering.
A spacious, dog-friendly office loft by the canal in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
Flexible working arrangements, including remote options and workations.
A purpose-driven company focused on sustainability and real-world impact.
An international, diverse team that values ownership and accountability.
Annual learning budget and regular internal workshops.
Sustainable commuting benefits (Deutschland Ticket, Job Bike).
City-wide gym access and mental health support via Nilo.health.
Complimentary drinks, snacks, and regular team and volunteering events.
