We are on the lookout for an experienced and motivated Lead Software Architect for our clients in the Banking & Financial Services industry. In this role you will be responsible for the overall design and technical success of software projects from initial concept through to delivery ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements. This includes defining the system architecture, guiding development teams on implementation, and making key decisions on tools, frameworks, and technologies. You will also play a crucial role in ensuring scalability, security and performance while collaborating with stakeholders, steering the projects technical direction, and ensuring overall client satisfaction and project success.
You will be responsible for the development of complex IT architectures in innovative software solutions and for providing strategic‑technological advice to our customers in the banking & financial services sector.
Work closely with customers on‑site to understand their business, translate needs into high‑quality software and apply domain expertise built through long‑term client engagement to deliver impactful solutions.
You will manage teams from a technical perspective from kick‑off to roll‑out and will be in close contact with the project management team.
With your leadership skills you will win over, inspire and mobilize your project team and our customers for ideas.
By coaching your team members in Software Engineering and Architecture and in the application of agile principles you will make a decisive contribution to the success of a wide range of projects.
With your skills and experience you will further develop our Zühlke network of experts and work on group‑wide initiatives for the continuous improvement of software development.
You have a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
You have at least five years of experience in Software Architect roles, ideally in the banking & financial services industry.
You have knowledge in the development of highly available and secure cloud solutions as well as expertise in software architecture and documentation (especially in microservices and domain‑driven design as well as with tools such as UML and Arc42).
You understand the typical technical and organizational challenges of IT in the banking and financial services industry and are eager to develop innovative future‑ready solutions.
You bring deep expertise in the banking and financial services domain and a strong grasp of regulatory and business requirements in the financial sector.
You bring extensive experience in backend development (e.g. Java Spring Boot, SQL/NoSQL databases, Apache Kafka) and ideally also in frontend technologies (e.g. Angular or React) complemented by solid knowledge in DevOps/GitOps practices including CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, monitoring and security concepts such as OAuth2, OIDC authentication and authorization.
You bring convincing leadership qualities and a coaching and mentoring mentality as well as a growth mindset and the willingness to learn continuously.
You are an excellent communicator and are fluent in German and English (at least C1 level).
