Legal advisor in Data Protection

The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.

Your Role

You are an expert in data protection field and, as such, you will be responsible for assisting the Data Protection Officer with a range of mission-related activities, including providing advice, compliance initiatives, and handling GDPR-related requests. Your main responsibilities will include:

Monitor & validate the entries in the personal data processing records of the University
Review, draft, and negotiate agreements related to personal data processing in compliance with GDPR requirements.
Support the DPO in advising and providing legal opinions to internal stakeholders
Help the DPO in conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments
Support the DPO for managing data breaches
Ensure the DPO's back-up during absences
Support the DPO regarding data subject requests, e.g right of access, right of erasure
Assist the DPO in the different actions of the compliance projects

Your Profile

Master in Law or equivalent covering the field of data protection
Professional experience of at least 4 years in a similar position or in a position dealing mainly with data protection
Expertise in data protection issues, including regulation, implementation principles and solutions, processes and technologies involved and organisational aspects
Interest for data protection and anciliary regulation, e.g. e-privacy, legislation & new technologies, e.g AI Act
Professional proficiency in English and French is mandatory. Any other language is considered as an asset
Advanced knowledge of MS Office
good negotiation and communication skills
Confidentiality and discretion
