Embark on a transformative 24-month Manufacturing Engineering Traineeship Program at Tesla, designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders in automotive manufacturing. Tailored for driven and ambitious graduates, this program provides an unparalleled opportunity to acquire hands‑on experience across all critical facets of vehicle production.

Through four structured six‑month rotational assignments, you will immerse yourself in Tesla’s core manufacturing shops, working alongside industry experts, contributing to impactful projects, and developing a comprehensive understanding of our innovative production processes. This rotational framework ensures exposure to diverse challenges and fosters a well‑rounded skill set.

Currently seeking trainees for 2 main areas:

  • Assist in implementing small‑scale process improvements by collaborating with cross‑functional teams to reduce cycle times, enhance quality, and improve safety standards in production lines.
  • Support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of manufacturing equipment and tooling specific to each shop, ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to Tesla’s high standards.
  • Contribute to shop‑specific projects, such as material flow optimization in Forming, weld quality analysis in BIW, surface finish enhancements in Paint, or assembly line balancing in GA, under the mentorship of experienced engineers.
  • Work closely with teams in each shop to understand interdependencies between manufacturing stages, foster communication, and support seamless transitions of components through the production cycle.

What You’ll Bring

  • Graduates with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, with a strong academic foundation in manufacturing principles.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, such as metal forming, welding, painting, and assembly, with the ability to learn and apply technical concepts quickly in a hands‑on environment.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data and identifying trends, with the ability to use tools like Excel or similar software for data collection, visualization, and reporting.
  • A proactive mindset to identify issues in production processes and propose logical, practical solutions under guidance, demonstrating critical thinking and adaptability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams across shops, communicate ideas clearly, and build relationships in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented setting.
  • Willingness to rotate through different shops, adapt to varying challenges, and quickly learn new processes, tools, and technologies specific to each manufacturing stage.

What We Offer

  • A competitive trainee salary and benefits package, reflecting Tesla’s commitment to attracting and nurturing top talent.
  • Dedicated guidance from senior engineers and shop leads across Forming, BIW, Paint, and GA, ensuring personalized support throughout your 2‑year rotational program.
  • Access to career development workshops and specialized technical training sessions to enhance your skills and prepare you for future challenges in manufacturing engineering.
  • Potential opportunities for international exposure, based on business needs, allowing you to gain a broader perspective on Tesla’s global operations.
