Julius Herter - Lead Trading & Energy Operations -LinkedIn profile link
Hi there,
I joined Entrix in June 2022 as a Founder’s Associate and ended up working across almost everything — fundraising, finance, ops, marketing, and now market operations.
What I’ve learned: energy trading only works if ops, finance, and tech work seamlessly together. That’s exactly where this role sits.
What you can expect from me: maximum ownership and zero hand‑holding (in a good way). If something’s broken, we fix it. If something can be automated, we automate it. If scaling needs structure, we build it.
Outside of work, I’m usually in the mountains (hiking, climbing, skiing), trying new food spots in Munich, or deep in some DIY project.
If you want to help build a market ops setup that actually scales across Europe — I’d love to talk.
Cheers, Julius
As a Market Operations Manager, you will be part of our fast‑moving Operations team — a group of sharp, hands‑on professionals who ensure our trading setup performs in the real world.
Own market access & readiness — end‑to‑end. You ensure assets, partners, and internal systems are set up to participate in the right markets (power, ancillary services, balancing group processes) — on time, and without drama.
Deliver collateral, limits & “license to operate”.
You own the operational topics that keep trading uninterrupted: exchange collateral (e.g., EPEX), trading limits, and partner/TSO requirements.
Run balancing group operations — clean and precise. You run day‑to‑day balancing group processes (schedules, declarations/values, TSO workflows) and make sure execution is compliant and tight.
Track and resolve imbalances and market deviations. You monitor imbalance exposure, investigate anomalies, and drive resolution with internal teams and external partners.
On‑call rotation (a few times per month). Participate in a regular on‑call rotation a few times per month (evenings/weekends). When incidents occur, you’ll coordinate swift triage and resolution with internal teams and external partners — always supported by an experienced software development counterpart.
Own invoicing & reporting workflows. You ensure data validation, monthly reporting, and invoice processes (including partner invoices). Strong bias for quality, transparency, and scalability — not spreadsheet chaos.
Drive regulatory and audit readiness. You help keep us compliant with market and regulatory obligations (e.g., REMIT, trade reporting) and build readiness for what comes next as we scale across Europe.
Solve problems fast and cross‑functionally. Lead structured root cause analyses with Product/Tech, the remaining Ops team, and external partners — and drive fixes that stick.
Fix things that break — and make sure they don’t break again. You lead structured root cause analysis with Product/Tech, Trading, Finance, and partners — and you drive fixes that stick.
Standardize, automate, document. You identify recurring friction (manual steps, data gaps, unclear ownership), improve it, and write playbooks that make us faster and more resilient.
We want someone sharp, reliable under pressure, and extremely high‑agency — the kind of person who sees a messy operational setup and immediately starts turning it into something clean.
A degree or equivalent in Business (Informatics), Economics, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
Experience in digital consulting, start‑up/scale‑up operations, energy/trading/market operations, or a comparable role close to market execution; entry‑level candidates with initial professional experience are welcome.
Comfortable with dashboards, monitoring tools, exports, reporting — and actually validating the data.
Strong cross‑functional operator: can drive outcomes with Trading, Finance, Product, and Engineering.
Solid understanding of — or strong willingness to quickly learn — electricity markets, balancing group mechanics, and operational market processes.
Business proficiency (C1+) in English and German.
Experience managing external partners (e.g., TSOs, exchanges, balancing group service providers, direct marketers, OEMs).
Operational compliance know‑how in the energy sector (e.g., REMIT, market communication standards, audit readiness; KRITIS/NIS2 is a plus).
Experience building or improving invoicing/reporting workflows and interfaces to Finance.
Experience with incident/ticketing systems or structured ops execution (e.g., Jira Service Management, Zendesk, PagerDuty).
Ability to understand and work with basic code (e.g., Python, SQL) to support debugging, automation, or configuration tasks.
You prefer routine over dynamic work environments.
You avoid cross‑team work or don’t enjoy managing operational ambiguity.
You shy away from ownership‑heavy roles where accuracy and follow‑through matter.
You dislike working with operational data, process details, and external stakeholders.
We are committed to diversity - of all backgrounds and experiences. You don’t need 100% of the preferred qualifications to add incredible value to our team. If you’re passionate about what you could accomplish here, we’d love to hear from you.
Competitive Compensation Package: Including salary, benefits and virtual share options.
Professional Development: Annual development budget of 3,000 € for coachings, training, books, etc.
Health & Sport Subsidy: Company subsidized sports facilities membership or Public Transportation Subsidy: Monthly subsidy to your public transport ticket.
Lunch/Dinner Allowance Vouchers: Allowance for meals on working days as digital meal vouchers.
Work Equipment: MacBook or Windows Laptop and ergonomic workplace.
Regular Team Events: Knowledge Sessions, Afterwork, Sports, Offsites, Halloween, Pride Month, etc.
