Profile:

You are a proactive and highly organised self-starter with strong project management skills and an entrepreneurial mindset. You are comfortable working with structured processes and timelines, and able to translate complex scientific content into clear, engaging formats.

Role and Responsibilities:

You will support the Marketing & Communications function and report directly to the Marketing and Communications Manager. You will work closely with ESRS staff, Board members, volunteers, and external partners.

Your overarching objective is to strengthen ESRS visibility, engagement, and membership growth across Europe. More specifically, increase the number of scientific submissions, registrations and applications for ESRS-run webinars, meetings and congresses.

1. Strategic Marketing & Performance Support

  • Contribute to implementation of the ESRS Strategic Plan 2026–2030
  • Support the execution of the ESRS marketing and communications strategy
  • Design member acquisition and renewal journeys
  • Support CRM implementation and optimisation
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting KPIs (website engagement, social media performance, email metrics, membership conversion, event registrations)

2. Branding & Design

  • Develop and produce visual assets for congresses, education programmes, public health campaigns and committee initiatives
  • Maintain and update the ESRS Brand Guide
  • Ensure consistent brand compliance across all outputs
  • Oversee templates, staff signatures and branding subscriptions
  • Recommend and coordinate external suppliers where required
  • Own and manage the ESRS content calendar
  • Curate and publish scientific and educational content across digital channels
  • Translate complex sleep science into accessible communications
  • Coordinate recurring formats such as blog posts, newsletters and campaigns
  • Disseminate ESRS communications to national societies and partners

4. Event & Education Marketing

  • Support marketing activities for the ESRS flagship congress Sleep Europe and work in close collaboration with the external meeting organiser
  • Promote ESRS educational initiatives, including: Paediatric Sleep School and Sleep Science School
  • Support communication of the ESRS Sleep Medicine Examination and other scientific initiatives
  • Support marketing for ESRS publications, including: Journal of Sleep Research and ESRS Textbook (new edition)
  • Manage webinar infrastructure (registration pages, promotion, on-demand access)

5. Website Management (WordPress)

  • Take full ownership of the ESRS website
  • Align website structure and content with strategic priorities
  • Build and optimise pages for membership, education and events
  • Coordinate with external web designer(s) where required

6. Committee & Stakeholder Support

Digital Communications Committee (DCC)

  • Coordinate monthly meetings
  • Manage timelines and workflows for committee initiatives

7. Stakeholder & Media Partnerships

  • Manage partnerships with media and publishing partners
  • Collaborate with industry partners in compliance with transparency and independence principles

8. Public Health Initiatives

  • Support the coordination and delivery of Sleep Awareness Month
  • Develop campaign messaging, toolkits and partner coordination
  • Manage national society engagement and campaign evaluation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Design or a related field
  • Strong design skills, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Experience with website management (WordPress preferred)
  • Experience in digital marketing and content strategy
  • Experience using Canva for template-based content creation and internal communication materials
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS and web structure is an advantage
  • Excellent written communication skills in English

An ideal candidate will also have one or more of the below:

  • Experience working for a professional association, non-profit organisation, or association management company
  • Experience in scientific, healthcare, or education-related environments
  • Experience with video or motion design tools (e.g. After Effects, Premiere Pro)
