Job Description: Airbus Operations is looking for a Master student in the field of Production Engineering and Management (d/f/m) for a dual sourcing strategy. You are seeking a master thesis and want to learn the work of a supply chain manager? We look forward to you supporting us in the department Airframe Supply Management Hamburg as a Master student (d/f/m).

Your Tasks And Responsibilities

• Evaluate the feasibility and strategic implementation of a Dual Sourcing Strategy within the civil aviation supply chain.
• Conduct an in-depth analysis of internal trade-offs, balancing risk mitigation against procurement cost implications (e.g., loss of volume discounts and dual tooling/certification costs).
• Examine the operational complexity of managing two independent suppliers, including synchronized logistics and dual quality assurance processes.
• Analyze challenges of implementing dual sourcing in the aerospace sector, considering low production volumes, regulatory frameworks (EASA/FAA), and long product lifecycles.
• Perform qualitative interviews with key procurement and logistics experts, and carry out a quantitative Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis.
• Develop a comprehensive Decision-Support Framework or a Maturity Model to guide the selection of commodity groups best suited for Dual Sourcing.

Desired Skills And Qualifications

• Enrolled full-time student in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field
• First practical experience in aviation industry, procurement and/or supply chain is desirable
• Fluent in English
