Your role: As a MSc Student in the Stability Enhancement Formulations Team within Excipient R&D, Life Science KGaA, you will have the opportunity to develop tailor-made formulations for distinct biomolecules with a focus on protein therapeutics. You will be part of a cross-disciplinary team addressing a broad range of biomolecules (e.g., proteins, nucleic acids, viruses). With your thesis embedded in an ongoing research project focusing on protein formulation, you will perform laboratory experiments including state-of-the-art analytical methods to determine stability and characteristics of proteins in liquid formulations, analyze and interpret data, and present your results in meetings. Additionally, you will participate in cross-departmental collaborations related to protein formulations and interact with Formulation Experts. You should be a highly curious, creative, independent, yet collaborative individual with good communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory experiments and data analysis to determine stability and characteristics of proteins in liquid formulations.
  • Work on tailor-made formulations for distinct biomolecules (proteins, nucleic acids, viruses) within a cross-disciplinary team.
  • Collaborate with Formulation Experts and participate in cross-departmental projects.
  • Present results in meetings and contribute to ongoing research efforts.

Qualifications

  • Matriculation in a MSc Program or equivalent in Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field within Germany.
  • Experience in handling protein stability and formulation.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis.
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art analytical methods to characterize stability of proteins and particles, including SE-HPLC, light scattering, tensiometry, viscometry, and spectroscopy (e.g., fluorescence).
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while being collaborative.
  • Creativity, curiosity, and an open mindset.
  • Fluency in English is a must; German language skills are desirable.

Duration

6-9 months, starting in March 2026.
