Mechanical Engineer (m/w/d) Thermal Systems / Cooling Modules (ICE & BEV)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Mechanical Engineer to design and develop mechanical components for thermal systems and cooling modules in commercial vehicles equipped with both ICE and BEV powertrains. In this role, you will contribute throughout the entire development cycle—from conceptual design to final series approval—working closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality, reliable, and forward‑thinking solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development

• Create detailed CAD models , technical drawings , and layouts for mechanical components using Catia V5 in combination with connected PDM systems .

Analysis & Optimization

• Conduct FMEA , tolerance analyses , and integrate relevant insights from CFD , FEM , and packaging analyses , as well as testing feedback, into robust component designs.

Prototyping & Testing

• Plan, coordinate, and support all necessary prototype builds and testing activities .
• Collaborate closely with purchasing , production , and suppliers to ensure accurate validation and timely issue resolution.

Project Execution

• Manage project timelines, documentation, and technical reporting.
• Take ownership of assigned components and act as a component owner within the team and project environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering , Mechatronics , or a related field
• 3+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and engineering
• Proficiency in Catia V5 ; experience with Traton PDM systems (Enovia/OAS) is a strong advantage
• Solid knowledge of injection‑moulded plastic , sheet metal , and rubber component design
• Strong analytical mindset and excellent problem‑solving skills
• High level of engagement, self‑driven work style, and sense of ownership
• Excellent communication skills in English and German , with a strong motivation for collaboration in an international team
