A vacancy for a Mission Systems Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Manching. The successful applicant will join the Mission System Concepts team “TADIXF6”. We are looking for a creative person who wants to work on system engineering as well as on software‑related tasks with respect to mission systems for military aircraft. You will have the chance to contribute to various projects across a wide field of aerospace applications and to work with emerging technologies, shaping the future of airborne platforms.

Your Tasks And Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the overall architecture of mission systems including the design of the codebase.
• Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain software by writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code following software development best practices.
• Communicate with stakeholders to capture, analyse, define, and manage requirements and specifications.
• Identify and address technical risks and issues; implement mitigation strategies as needed.
• Create and maintain technical documentation including requirements, specifications, plans, reports, diagrams and presentations.
• Design intuitive and user‑friendly GUIs.
• Actively support the continuous improvement of our projects, products and processes.

Desired Skills And Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in computer science, aerospace engineering or a related technical field
• 3‑5 years of relevant professional experience
• Experience in identifying, writing, and tracking requirements
• Experience in software development with modern programming languages and tools
• Experience with modern principles such as version control, containerization, and agile development methods
• Optional but desirable: Knowledge in flight control systems, flight dynamics, (sat)comms, sensors, sensor fusion, radar, and simulation
• Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information to technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Fluency in technical and business English and German, both written and spoken, is required to be able to work in a multinational environment.
