Network Deployment Planner, (Planning, Implementation and Coordination Team), AWS
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
The Global Network Delivery organization is looking to hire a highly motivated, best‑in‑class Network Deployment Planner to join our growing Planning and Implementation team within AWS Data Center Delivery. The team responsibilities involve scoping and planning interdependent capacity scaling projects and new network capacity deployments across several data center locations.
The Planner will work closely with infrastructure supply chain & procurement, network engineering and technical program managers to plan and deliver customer capacity to the local data center installation & deployment technicians to facilitate smooth capacity execution.
Key job responsibilities
- Contribute to infrastructure planning and project execution, supporting initiatives from initiation through delivery.
- Identify and help resolve project dependencies, risks, and blockers while keeping stakeholders informed.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including technical requirements, vendor packages, and status reports.
- Build and manage relationships with vendors and cross‑functional partners to ensure project alignment and timely delivery.
- Monitor and support compliance with project timelines and service‑level commitments.
- Perform project tracking and administrative tasks using standard planning and communication tools.
- Develop and maintain instructional content, proposals, and process documentation to support team operations.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align priorities and drive project outcomes.
- Support knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members.
- Work independently under general management guidance, escalating issues to appropriate teams as needed.
- Travel to various sites within the region up to 30% of the time for stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or a combination of education and training, and/or 3+ years of relevant experience in data center operations, network deployment, or critical infrastructure environments.
- Minimum 3 years of direct, hands‑on experience in at least one of the following areas: Networking concepts and infrastructure, Transmission technology or structured cabling, Hardware troubleshooting in a live data center environment, Project management within infrastructure or deployment settings.
- Experience working with infrastructure management or project tracking systems (e.g., ticketing platforms, capacity planning tools, or equivalent industry tools).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and manage workload in a complex, fast‑paced environment.
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in data center infrastructure, network scaling, or deployment planning roles.
- Proven track record of managing SLA compliance for data center scaling activities, room builds, or hardware deployments.
- Experience identifying and resolving project dependencies and blockers in live data center environments.
- Demonstrated ability to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more technical disciplines relevant to data center deployment. Demonstrated ability to apply structured decision‑making in a high‑availability infrastructure environment. Hands‑on experience preparing cabling documentation, hardware specifications.
