Have you handled project logistics on the side and thought, "I want to do more of this?"
This is your opportunity to step out of standard seafreight and become the go-to project expert for a growing division.
We are looking for an ambitious Ocean Freight professional who wants to take the reins, transition into a specialized role, and help build a dedicated projects team from the ground up.
This midsized German business, part of a highly regarded global group with 12,000 employees, is expanding their operations at their branch near the Hamburg port.
Currently, their Branch Manager is balancing business development with an influx of new project requests. We need a dedicated specialist to step in, take ownership of this pipeline, and grow the project desk.
The Role
You will not be thrown into the deep end.
You will start with a manageable mix of standard oceanfreight and project work, allowing you to learn the ropes while gradually transitioning entirely into project management as the division scales.
Operating on a Single Point of Contact model, you will own your customer relationships from start to finish.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing mixed trade lanes with a strong emphasis on Export, particularly to the Americas.
- Handling complex and specialized cargo, including Heavy Lift, RoRo, machinery, and large pharma accounts.
- Calculating and building quotes (with initial mentoring and support from the Branch Manager until you are ready to fly solo).
- Collaborating with our global offices, including leaning on our specialized project teams in Austria for support with North American routes or airfreight requirements.
- Working with industry-standard software, specifically L-Base and Dakosy.
About You
- You have a solid background in standard Oceanfreight (customer service or team lead experience is also valued).
- You have had some exposure to project logistics or special requirements in your current role, and you are eager to make it your main focus. We're talking Out of Gauge, High & Heavy, Breakbulk etc.
- You are fluent in both German and English, as you will be communicating daily with local colleagues and international partners.
- You are proactive, take ownership of your accounts, and thrive in a collaborative, close-knit team environment.
What We Offer
- Competitive Salary: EUR 50,000 - EUR 60,000 fixed, depending on your level of existing project experience.
- Flexibility: Full-time is preferred, but part-time (30+ hours) is possible.
- Hybrid Working: Following a 5-day-a-week office presence during your probation and onboarding, you will enjoy a hybrid setup with up to 2 days working from home per week.
- Prime Location: Work directly at the port in a beautifully refurbished historical building.
- Comfort & Culture: Free on-site parking, height-adjustable desks, a flat hierarchy, and a dog-friendly office. (If taking public transport, it is a 15-minute walk from the nearest bus stop).
This is a rare chance to carve out your own niche within an established, growing company.
