Starting on October 1st, 2020, the GESIS Department Computational Social Science (CSS) is looking for a Post-Doctoral Researcher (Salary group 13 TV-L, working time 100%, initially for 4 years).
GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences is an internationally active research institute, funded by federal and state governments and member of the Leibniz Association. Computational Social Science (CSS) is a new area of research that aims to analyze socio-cultural phenomena through new kinds of data and novel technologies.
Your tasks will be:
Develop services for the social sciences in the area of spatio-temporal analysis (e.g. novel data collection methods, data mining methods and visualization instruments for networks and complex systems, and/or trainings/tutorials)
Conduct cutting edge research in computational social science
Conduct studies with sensor technology that captures human behavior, such as social interaction and/or mobility
Your profile:
Completed (or soon to be completed) PhD in Computational Social Science, applied mathematics, physics, computer science, statistics, sociology or related fields
Strong programming skills and experience in one or several of the following fields is desirable: (i) analysis of temporal networks, (ii) sensor-based data collection and processing, (iii) machine learning, (iv) models and simulations of social systems
Good communication skills and ability to work in teams.
